For grandparents
Grandma and Grandpa, one tap away.
Let your child chat and video call the grandparents you choose, safely, on a tablet or phone they already have. You decide who gets through.
Free to start · You approve every contact · No phone number or email needed for your child

Close to the family, in your control.
Whether they live down the road or abroad, grandparents can be part of everyday life.
Two ways to join
Grandparents can be a contact your child chats and calls with, or a co-guardian who helps supervise. You choose the right role for each person.
Calls on your terms
Calls with anyone other than your guardians are off by default. Switch on audio only, or audio and video, for the people you trust.
More than calls
Messages, photos, videos, drawings, stickers and group chats. Everything follows your approval settings, so you stay in control.
Video calls from anywhere
Calls use Wi-Fi or mobile data, so it makes no difference whether grandparents live in the next town or on the other side of the world. Your child can start a call with a tap, and incoming calls ring like real phone calls, even on the lock screen.
A guardian can always call their child. For a grandparent who isn’t a guardian, you choose: Not Allowed, Calls Only, or Calls and Video. With Premium you can set this for a single conversation, so grandma gets full video calling while everyone else stays blocked. How calling works →

Easy to find, safe to connect
Share your child’s profile with a grandparent and your child appears in their “People on ChatMinder” list, so there are no usernames to swap. No notification is sent, and sharing never adds anyone as a contact automatically.
Depending on your child’s Contacts Protection level, a contact request may still need your approval before it’s accepted. Only people inside your family’s trusted circle are ever suggested. How sharing works →
Simple for grandparents
A grandparent only needs a free ChatMinder account. If you invite them as a co-guardian, they get an email with a link to accept, and if they don’t have an account yet the link walks them through creating one.
Prefer to keep it simple? Just add them as a contact. They don’t need to supervise anything to chat and call with their grandchild. How co-guardians work →

Questions about grandparents
Can my child’s grandparents call them?
Yes. Allow calls in your child’s Call Protection settings, audio only or audio and video, or invite grandparents as co-guardians, who can always call. With Premium you can allow a call type for just one conversation.
Does a grandparent need to be a co-guardian?
No. Only invite someone as a co-guardian if you want them to help supervise, because co-guardians can see and do everything the primary guardian can. To let your child chat and call them, add them as a contact instead.
Does a grandparent need to pay?
No. A guardian buys Premium for a child, and every guardian of that child shares it. Grandparents who are contacts or co-guardians only need a free ChatMinder account.
Can grandparents who live abroad take part?
Yes. ChatMinder is available internationally and calls use the internet, so you just need a connection on each side.
Is ChatMinder an emergency calling service?
No. ChatMinder calls are for keeping in touch with family and approved contacts. They can’t be used to contact the emergency services (999 or 112).
