Message Features

A messaging app your child will actually enjoy using.

ChatMinder has the features children expect — reactions, replies, media sharing — without the parts guardians worry about. Fully supervised, genuinely usable.

A real app worth switching to

A supervised messaging app only works if children actually want to use it. ChatMinder is designed to feel like a proper messaging app — not a stripped-back “safe mode” — so there’s no resistance from children and no need to maintain a parallel unsupervised app alongside it.

Emoji reactions

Children can react to messages with emoji — just like in other messaging apps.

Reactions show on the message for everyone in the conversation.

No text needed, no approval needed — reactions flow freely regardless of whether message approval is enabled.

Threaded replies

Any message in a conversation can be replied to directly, creating a clear thread that shows what the reply is responding to.

Threaded replies follow the same approval rules as regular messages — they’re simply another message under the hood, with the original message referenced.

Message forwarding

Messages can be forwarded to another contact or conversation.

Forwarded messages go through the same approval and AI analysis rules as any other message — the forwarding action does not bypass any protection settings.

Photos and videos

Children can share photos and videos within conversations.

Media messages go through exactly the same approval rules as text messages (but without AI analysis – yet) so nothing arrives or leaves without the same level of review that applies to all content.

What’s deliberately left out

Some features are excluded from ChatMinder — by design:

  • No read receipts
  • No online status
  • No “last seen”
  • No typing indicators
  • No stories or status updates

These aren’t oversights — they’re deliberate choices. Each one has been removed because it either creates privacy risks, adds social pressure, or creates features that are difficult to supervise effectively.

Same experience on every device

ChatMinder is available on iOS, Android, and web browser. All features work across all platforms — your child can switch between their tablet, phone, or a web browser without losing any functionality or conversation history.
