About the app

What is ChatMinder?

ChatMinder is a supervised family chat and calling app for children. Parents and guardians choose who their child can talk to, and can approve what is sent. Children get messages, photos, voice and video calls with family and friends, without a phone number, public profile or contact from strangers. Groups can be shared with a link or QR code, so a class, team or community can chat together, with an admin choosing who joins and each child’s guardian approving their child first.

Free to start · No phone number needed for your child · iPhone, iPad, Android and web

How it works

1

A parent creates a protected profile

The child gets their own profile, linked to the parent’s account. Co-parents and grandparents can be invited to help supervise.

2

Parents choose who they can talk to

Family and friends are added as approved contacts. Nobody else can message or call the child.

3

Protection that grows with the child

Start with parents approving messages, then relax the rules as the child shows they’re ready.

What ChatMinder is not

  • Not a social network. There are no public profiles and no follower counts, and nobody can message a child unless a guardian has approved them.
  • Not a replacement for parenting. It gives parents tools and visibility. Conversations about online safety are still important.
  • Not an emergency service. Calls can’t be used to contact the emergency services (999 or 112).
  • Not designed for adults to chat with strangers. ChatMinder is for families and the people they choose to connect with.
