For long-distance families

Close the distance, one call at a time.

Whether a parent has moved away, you live in different countries, or the grandparents are far away, ChatMinder helps children stay close with one-tap calls, messages that don’t pressure anyone to reply, and parents in control.

Free to start · Works over Wi-Fi or mobile data · No phone number or email needed for your child

Stay part of each other’s day.

Distance changes how often you meet, not how much your child needs you.

One tap to call home

Your child sees their guardians on a simple home screen. One tap starts an audio or video call, wherever each of you is.

No pressure to reply

No read receipts, no last seen, no online status and no typing indicators, so nobody has to answer in the moment.

Share the everyday

Photos, videos, drawings, stickers and GIFs let your child show you what they’ve been up to between calls.

Calls that feel like calls

Incoming calls ring like real phone calls, even on the lock screen or when the app is closed, so your child can answer or decline without unlocking their device. Either person can mute, switch to earpiece or end the call at any time.

Calls run over Wi-Fi or mobile data, with no SIM card or phone plan needed, so a tablet or an old phone is all your child needs.

Calls are logged, never recorded. How calling works →

Keep in touch between calls

Send messages, photos and videos, draw a picture, add a sticker or GIF, or reply to a message. Everyone can answer when it suits them, whatever the time difference.

Family group chats let grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins join in too. Guardians stay in control of who’s in the room and what gets delivered. See all message features →

Everyone in the loop

A parent or grandparent who lives far away can be invited as a co-guardian. They get the same notifications as you, can approve or reject messages and contact requests, and can call your child at any time.

Every week, ChatMinder sends guardians an activity summary, including how many voice and video calls took place and how long they lasted. How co-guardians work →

Questions from long-distance families

Can we use ChatMinder if we live in different countries?

Yes. ChatMinder is available internationally, and chats and calls use the internet, so all you need is a connection on each side. Your child’s data is stored in the UK.

Does my child need their own phone?

No. A tablet, iPad or an old phone is enough, with no SIM card or phone number.

Can a parent who lives far away see what’s going on?

Yes. Invite them as a co-guardian and they get the same notifications and can approve or reject messages and contact requests. They can also call your child at any time.

What does it cost?

ChatMinder is free to start, and calls between guardians and their children are free. Premium adds extras such as AI message scoring and per-conversation rules, from £11.99/year (about £1/month) as an introductory offer; the standard price is £23.99/year. See pricing →

Is ChatMinder an emergency calling service?

No. ChatMinder calls are for keeping in touch with family and approved contacts. They can’t be used to contact the emergency services (999 or 112).
